Trio Bohémo

Chamber music from Bohemia

TRIO BOHÉMO

Matouš PÄ›ruška (violin), Kristina Vocetková (cello), Jan Vojtek (piano)

Founded in 2019, Trio Bohéme has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting young chamber music ensembles.

Winners of prestigious competitions such as the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna and the International Parkhouse Award in London, Trio Bohémo has also received several audience and special prizes. They have performed at the Vienna Musikverein, Wigmore Hall and the Prague Spring Festival. Their deep musicality and award-winning interpretations of Viennese classics and contemporary works make them an outstanding ensemble on the international stage.

Thanks to generous support, Matouš plays on an impeccable copy of the Antonio Stradivari 'Willemotte' violin by Florian Leonhard and on a unique violin by Matteo Goffriller. Kristina plays a beautiful cello by Fausto Maria Bertucci.

"Precision, devotion - and a spark of magic"
"They are the music that this world needs."

program

Bedřich Smetana: Piano trio in g minor, op. 15
“In memory of our first child Bedriska, who enchanted us with her extraordinary musical talent, but was torn from us by inexorable death at the age of four and a half.” This is Smetana's moving dedication for this piano trio - and the music is the harrowing realization of these lines.

Antonín DvoÅ™ák:
Piano trio No. 4 in e minor, op. 90 'Dumky'

DvoÅ™ák's most popular trio shows similarities with his Slavonic Dances, as a dumka is a Ukrainian dance, and this trio is based on six of these dances. These offer plenty of scope for very rapid changes of mood, which also corresponded to Dvorak's own temperament.

Marios Christou: DvoÅ™ák in Cyprus

A composition commissioned by Trio Bohémo with the fairy-tale idea that DvoÅ™ák had visited Cyprus and, under this influence, combined a “Czech composition” with Greek style and a great deal of humor.
